Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Software, Retail and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.75% to hit a new 6-months high, while the MDAX index added 0.77%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.66%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were SAP SE (DE:SAPG), which rose 2.12% or 2.180 points to trade at 104.900 at the close. Meanwhile, Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) added 1.92% or 5.56 points to end at 295.86 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 1.66% or 0.505 points to 30.975 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn), which fell 1.64% or 3.40 points to trade at 204.50 at the close. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) declined 1.09% or 1.00 points to end at 90.35 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was down 0.83% or 0.790 points to 93.990.
The top performers on the MDAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which rose 11.47% to 7.910, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 5.81% to settle at 28.250 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which gained 5.57% to close at 13.685.
The worst performers were HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) which was down 3.22% to 58.55 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 2.85% to settle at 340.600 and Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) which was down 1.75% to 90.000 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 5.81% to 28.250, LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which was up 5.80% to settle at 25.550 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which gained 5.57% to close at 13.685.
The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 2.85% to 340.600 in late trade, S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which lost 1.56% to settle at 18.90 and Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which was down 0.64% to 42.030 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 427 to 267 and 56 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.17% to 23.19.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.70% or 31.55 to $1890.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.63% or 0.30 to hit $48.12 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.18 to trade at $51.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.54% to 1.2263, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.9011.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.74% at 89.692.
