Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Software, Utilities and Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.72% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index gained 0.70%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 3.06% or 0.920 points to trade at 30.960 at the close. Meanwhile, SAP SE (DE:SAPG) added 2.87% or 3.520 points to end at 125.960 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was up 1.92% or 0.192 points to 10.194 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn), which fell 1.00% or 0.345 points to trade at 34.050 at the close. Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) declined 0.74% or 0.950 points to end at 127.600 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) was down 0.73% or 0.84 points to 114.72.
The top performers on the MDAX were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which rose 4.68% to 91.700, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 3.35% to settle at 93.120 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 3.09% to close at 25.000.
The worst performers were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which was down 3.31% to 5.284 in late trade, Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which lost 1.70% to settle at 61.42 and Grenke N AG (DE:GLJn) which was down 1.68% to 90.60 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which rose 4.68% to 91.700, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 3.35% to settle at 93.120 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 3.09% to close at 25.000.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 2.07% to 22.660 in late trade, Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which lost 0.74% to settle at 127.600 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 0.59% to 20.130 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 405 to 267 and 77 ended unchanged.
Shares in RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 3.06% or 0.920 to 30.960. Shares in SAP SE (DE:SAPG) rose to all time highs; rising 2.87% or 3.520 to 125.960. Shares in E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.92% or 0.192 to 10.194.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.39% to 12.07 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.65% or 10.05 to $1560.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.24% or 0.14 to hit $58.38 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $64.60 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1093, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.8518.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 97.365.
