Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.55%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Industrials and Software sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.55%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.52%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.63%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG), which rose 2.74% or 2.80 points to trade at 105.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) added 2.56% or 12.00 points to end at 480.30 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) was up 2.16% or 6.60 points to 311.90 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (ETR:DHLn), which fell 4.04% or 1.51 points to trade at 35.84 at the close. BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) declined 2.13% or 0.96 points to end at 44.05 and Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) was down 1.20% or 0.68 points to 56.20.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which rose 8.86% to 81.70, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which was up 6.53% to settle at 3.43 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which gained 4.94% to close at 31.86.

The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which was down 4.30% to 41.20 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 4.03% to settle at 13.11 and K+S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which was down 2.27% to 11.84 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR:ELGG) which rose 16.34% to 64.80, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was up 4.94% to settle at 8.50 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which gained 4.94% to close at 31.86.

The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 4.03% to 13.11 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which lost 3.49% to settle at 15.22 and Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) which was down 1.65% to 119.40 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 328 to 274 and 32 ended unchanged.

Shares in Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.74% or 2.80 to 105.15. Shares in Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (ETR:DHLn) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.04% or 1.51 to 35.84. Shares in Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) rose to 52-week highs; rising 8.86% or 6.65 to 81.70.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.67% to 19.55.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.13% or 3.60 to $2,749.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.57% or 1.12 to hit $72.59 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.40% or 1.05 to trade at $76.13 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.41% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 103.41.
