Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Chemicals and Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.52%, while the MDAX index gained 0.70%, and the TecDAX index added 1.43%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which rose 3.64% or 5.250 points to trade at 149.650 at the close. Meanwhile, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) added 2.96% or 1.220 points to end at 42.480 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 2.47% or 0.394 points to 16.334 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn), which fell 1.22% or 0.186 points to trade at 15.060 at the close. Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) declined 0.60% or 0.090 points to end at 14.870 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) was down 0.34% or 0.20 points to 58.63.
The top performers on the MDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which rose 10.18% to 93.600, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 3.69% to settle at 62.400 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which gained 2.84% to close at 184.600.
The worst performers were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which was down 2.94% to 13.0250 in late trade, Puma SE (DE:PUMG) which lost 1.50% to settle at 59.30 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 1.46% to 17.9400 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which rose 10.18% to 93.600, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was up 6.35% to settle at 6.700 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 3.96% to close at 72.150.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 1.82% to 14.000 in late trade, Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which lost 1.46% to settle at 17.940 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 1.38% to 28.500 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 380 to 304 and 79 ended unchanged.
Shares in CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) rose to all time highs; up 3.96% or 2.750 to 72.150. Shares in United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) fell to 5-year lows; falling 1.38% or 0.400 to 28.500.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.32% to 14.11.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.14% or 1.95 to $1414.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.96% or 0.58 to hit $59.63 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.27 to trade at $66.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.1260, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8997.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 96.545.
