Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Media and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.50%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.05%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG), which rose 4.88% or 5.20 points to trade at 111.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) added 4.61% or 0.58 points to end at 13.28 and Porsche Automobil Holding SE (ETR:PSHG_p) was up 3.29% or 1.61 points to 50.58 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe), which fell 1.95% or 0.91 points to trade at 45.74 at the close. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:BEIG) declined 1.93% or 2.55 points to end at 129.85 and Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) was down 1.78% or 1.18 points to 65.14.
The top performers on the MDAX were Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which rose 9.35% to 34.38, Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which was up 7.80% to settle at 112.70 and Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which gained 5.86% to close at 27.98.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 3.04% to 111.50 in late trade, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which lost 1.78% to settle at 51.90 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 1.16% to 49.38 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which rose 6.33% to 29.58, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which was up 2.40% to settle at 31.51 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which gained 2.27% to close at 21.66.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 3.04% to 111.50 in late trade, Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which lost 1.43% to settle at 38.72 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was down 1.23% to 351.90 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 368 to 249 and 38 ended unchanged.
Shares in Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) rose to 5-year highs; up 4.61% or 0.58 to 13.28.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.20% to 13.68.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.07% or 24.35 to $2,306.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.83% or 0.71 to hit $85.86 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.82 to trade at $89.74 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 104.09.
