Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction, Technology and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.42%, while the MDAX index gained 0.39%, and the TecDAX index added 0.53%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 2.02% or 0.215 points to trade at 10.835 at the close. Meanwhile, Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) added 1.86% or 1.360 points to end at 74.580 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 1.29% or 1.500 points to 117.500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which fell 1.33% or 0.190 points to trade at 14.130 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 1.24% or 0.210 points to end at 16.705 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was down 0.88% or 0.073 points to 8.238.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which rose 5.05% to 31.500, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which was up 3.06% to settle at 50.060 and Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which gained 2.93% to close at 13.360.
The worst performers were Tui AG NA (DE:TUIGn) which was down 3.40% to 12.375 in late trade, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which lost 2.41% to settle at 55.580 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was down 2.28% to 52.340 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 7.30% to 3.570, Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which was up 5.22% to settle at 3.125 and Jenoptik AG O.N. (DE:JENG) which gained 3.12% to close at 13.065.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 6.24% to 23.445 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which lost 3.63% to settle at 6.832 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 2.69% to 39.750 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 439 to 381 and 34 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tui AG NA (DE:TUIGn) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.40% or 0.435 to 12.375.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.69% to 20.17.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.32% or 4.00 to $1248.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.26% or 0.11 to hit $41.41 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.55% or 0.23 to trade at $41.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1212, while EUR/GBP rose 0.87% to 0.7892.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 95.67.
