Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer & Cyclical, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Software sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.34%, while the MDAX index added 0.50%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.81%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which rose 3.73% or 10.40 points to trade at 289.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 2.78% or 1.59 points to end at 58.75 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) was up 2.78% or 4.100 points to 151.600 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which fell 1.86% or 0.172 points to trade at 9.054 at the close. Linde PLC (DE:LINI) declined 1.47% or 2.600 points to end at 173.750 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was down 1.41% or 0.900 points to 62.900.
The top performers on the MDAX were Puma SE (DE:PUMG) which rose 8.48% to 63.30, Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was up 5.81% to settle at 25.880 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which gained 2.63% to close at 27.300.
The worst performers were Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG (DE:B4B) which was down 3.85% to 14.0000 in late trade, Grenke N AG (DE:GLJn) which lost 3.11% to settle at 78.00 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 1.89% to 57.160 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 9.06% to 19.630, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was up 5.04% to settle at 6.570 and SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which gained 4.15% to close at 13.06.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 1.84% to 10.660 in late trade, Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which lost 1.56% to settle at 346.00 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 1.25% to 125.90 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 384 to 285 and 91 ended unchanged.
Shares in Puma SE (DE:PUMG) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 8.48% or 4.95 to 63.30.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.16% to 15.39.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.23% or 3.25 to $1426.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.76% or 0.44 to hit $58.49 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.53 to trade at $65.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.1131, while EUR/GBP fell 0.77% to 0.9106.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 97.882.
