Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Transportation & Logistics and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.31% to hit a new 3-months high, while the MDAX index added 0.13%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 2.46% or 2.600 points to trade at 108.450 at the close. Meanwhile, Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) added 1.26% or 0.595 points to end at 47.745 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 1.19% or 0.140 points to 11.920 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which fell 1.25% or 0.145 points to trade at 11.465 at the close. K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) declined 1.23% or 0.300 points to end at 24.130 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was down 1.11% or 0.275 points to 24.405.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) which rose 3.08% to 18.070, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which was up 1.47% to settle at 25.215 and Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which gained 1.30% to close at 33.775.
The worst performers were Kloeckner & Co SE NA (DE:KCOGn) which was down 1.61% to 8.130 in late trade, Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which lost 1.23% to settle at 87.610 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which was down 1.18% to 50.100 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which rose 3.28% to 3.146, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 2.95% to settle at 46.985 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which gained 2.55% to close at 174.800.
The worst performers were QSC AG NA O.N. (DE:QSCG) which was down 3.40% to 1.506 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which lost 2.42% to settle at 7.233 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 1.43% to 31.675 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 396 to 293 and 33 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.58% to 20.03.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.16% or 1.70 to $1076.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.12% or 0.05 to hit $41.67 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.32 to trade at $44.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.75% to 1.0654, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.7013.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.54% at 99.62.
