Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Transportation & Logistics, Industrials and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.29% to hit a new 6-months high, while the MDAX index added 0.70%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.79%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which rose 2.28% or 0.890 points to trade at 39.915 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 2.00% or 0.154 points to end at 7.866 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) was up 1.75% or 2.75 points to 159.45 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which fell 1.92% or 2.900 points to trade at 148.100 at the close. Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) declined 1.61% or 1.46 points to end at 89.00 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) was down 0.95% or 0.54 points to 56.47.

The top performers on the MDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which rose 4.36% to 96.900, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was up 3.57% to settle at 10.050 and Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which gained 3.56% to close at 57.040.

The worst performers were Grenke N AG (DE:GLJn) which was down 40.19% to 26.70 in late trade, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which lost 4.63% to settle at 119.500 and HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) which was down 2.83% to 38.48 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which rose 6.24% to 23.000, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 4.36% to settle at 96.900 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which gained 3.57% to close at 10.050.

The worst performers were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was down 4.63% to 119.500 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 1.08% to settle at 22.950 and New Work SE (DE:NWOn) which was down 1.03% to 241.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 372 to 264 and 110 ended unchanged.

Shares in Grenke N AG (DE:GLJn) fell to 5-year lows; down 40.19% or 17.94 to 26.70. Shares in Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) rose to 5-year highs; rising 3.56% or 1.960 to 57.040.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.03% to 24.11.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.35% or 6.85 to $1973.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 4.41% or 1.69 to hit $39.97 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.68% or 1.49 to trade at $42.02 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.1833, while EUR/GBP fell 0.84% to 0.9112.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 92.993.
