Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Retail and Financial Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.21%, while the MDAX index gained 0.79%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which rose 5.44% or 0.62 points to trade at 11.92 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) added 2.32% or 0.76 points to end at 33.47 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) was up 1.59% or 0.45 points to 28.82 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn), which fell 0.98% or 0.12 points to trade at 12.18 at the close. Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) declined 0.92% or 3.50 points to end at 378.50 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) was down 0.84% or 0.24 points to 28.37.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which rose 5.26% to 2.48, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was up 3.98% to settle at 10.20 and Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which gained 3.31% to close at 134.35.
The worst performers were Vitesco Technologies Group AG (ETR:VTSCn) which was down 6.21% to 74.75 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which lost 0.85% to settle at 99.40 and Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which was down 0.56% to 62.50 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which rose 3.98% to 10.20, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was up 3.75% to settle at 33.72 and Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which gained 2.40% to close at 29.86.
The worst performers were Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which was down 0.92% to 21.60 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which lost 0.85% to settle at 99.40 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which was down 0.60% to 21.65 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 365 to 286 and 33 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.59% or 0.45 to 28.82.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.88% to 13.50.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.07% or 22.05 to $2,091.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.63% or 1.23 to hit $74.34 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.40% or 1.13 to trade at $79.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.61% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.48% at 100.62.
