Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Retail, Technology and Food & Beverages sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.16% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index gained 0.81%, and the TecDAX index added 0.44%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG), which rose 3.30% or 5.30 points to trade at 165.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) added 2.55% or 0.92 points to end at 36.99 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) was up 1.98% or 0.70 points to 36.26 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Covestro AG (ETR:1COV), which fell 2.08% or 0.76 points to trade at 35.86 at the close. BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) declined 1.25% or 0.62 points to end at 48.81 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn) was down 0.80% or 0.08 points to 9.52.
The top performers on the MDAX were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which rose 5.29% to 24.90, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 4.40% to settle at 35.08 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which gained 4.29% to close at 7.15.
The worst performers were Fraport AG (ETR:FRAG) which was down 3.41% to 46.45 in late trade, ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which lost 2.78% to settle at 9.76 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 2.64% to 29.15 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 4.40% to 35.08, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was up 3.94% to settle at 18.71 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which gained 3.92% to close at 15.38.
The worst performers were ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which was down 2.78% to 9.76 in late trade, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which lost 2.64% to settle at 29.15 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 2.13% to 11.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 375 to 291 and 83 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.38% to 17.46 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.46% or 29.55 to $2,054.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.07% or 0.89 to hit $82.37 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.11% or 0.97 to trade at $86.36 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.63% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.56% at 100.61.
