Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Food & Beverage, Technology and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.73% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index added 1.12%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.97%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN), which rose 3.92% or 2.220 points to trade at 58.810 at the close. Meanwhile, Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) added 2.13% or 0.225 points to end at 10.765 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) was up 1.86% or 1.210 points to 66.110 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG), which fell 0.43% or 0.210 points to trade at 48.105 at the close. Allianz SE VNA O.N. (XETRA:ALVG) declined 0.25% or 0.350 points to end at 142.150 and SAP AG O.N. (XETRA:SAPG) was down 0.10% or 0.060 points to 57.510.

The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which rose 5.12% to 11.085, Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which was up 4.92% to settle at 38.155 and Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which gained 3.23% to close at 30.485.

The worst performers were Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was down 2.44% to 44.940 in late trade, Hannover Rueckversicherung SE (XETRA:HNRGn) which lost 1.16% to settle at 77.440 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (XETRA:TLXGn) which was down 0.94% to 25.420 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which rose 4.35% to 76.690, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was up 4.33% to settle at 1.807 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which gained 3.77% to close at 16.385.

The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which was down 2.84% to 79.280 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which lost 1.99% to settle at 2.810 and United Internet AG NA (XETRA:UTDI) which was down 1.42% to 38.125 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 469 to 249 and 26 ended unchanged.

Shares in Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.86% or 1.210 to 66.110.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.02% to 22.85.

Gold for February delivery was down 0.02% or 0.30 to $1276.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 2.24% or 1.10 to hit $48.03 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 2.26% or 1.14 to trade at $49.03 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.1623, while EUR/GBP rose 0.55% to 0.7677.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 92.77.
