Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Food & Beverage, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Retail sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.81%, while the MDAX index gained 0.65%, and the TecDAX index added 1.07%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG), which rose 2.22% or 0.945 points to trade at 43.505 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DPWGn) added 1.77% or 0.475 points to end at 27.260 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) was up 1.75% or 1.060 points to 61.610 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn), which fell 0.31% or 0.045 points to trade at 14.310 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) declined 0.25% or 0.065 points to end at 26.185 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (XETRA:BEIG) was down 0.10% or 0.070 points to 67.920.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kabel Deutschland Holding AG O.N. (XETRA:KD8Gn) which rose 2.39% to 113.650, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which was up 2.09% to settle at 27.840 and Norma Group AG NA O.N. (XETRA:NOEJ) which gained 2.03% to close at 39.430.
The worst performers were Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which was down 3.47% to 13.625 in late trade, STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (XETRA:STAGn) which lost 1.05% to settle at 25.480 and LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which was down 0.48% to 61.950 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which rose 14.79% to 53.550, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was up 7.95% to settle at 1.778 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (XETRA:AFXG) which gained 4.31% to close at 21.430.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 2.95% to 14.800 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which lost 1.63% to settle at 9.091 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which was down 1.39% to 19.915 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 530 to 186 and 30 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.96% to 17.97.
Gold for February delivery was down 1.33% or 15.90 to $1180.10 a troy ounce.
Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for delivery in February fell 2.85% or 1.63 to hit $55.50 a barrel, while the February brent oil contract fell 1.83% or 1.12 to trade at $60.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.2243, while EUR/GBP rose 0.21% to 0.7840.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 89.81.
