Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecom, Software and Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 2.79%, while the MDAX index climbed 2.16%, and the TecDAX index gained 3.81%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn), which rose 4.13% or 1.005 points to trade at 25.360 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) added 4.10% or 0.530 points to end at 13.460 and E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) was up 3.97% or 0.550 points to 14.420 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p), which rose 0.30% or 0.260 points to trade at 86.800 at the close. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (XETRA:BEIG) added 1.01% or 0.670 points to end at 67.250 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) was up 1.15% or 0.125 points to 10.975.
The top performers on the MDAX were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (XETRA:STAGn) which rose 5.22% to 25.920, Brenntag AG (XETRA:BNRGn) which was up 4.71% to settle at 45.775 and Leoni AG NA O.N. (XETRA:LEOGn) which gained 4.01% to close at 48.520.
The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which was down 0.22% to 91.150 in late trade, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which lost 0.21% to settle at 11.670 and Celesio AG Nam. O.N. (XETRA:CLSGn) which was up 0.29% to 26.385 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which rose 21.13% to 1.720, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which was up 8.01% to settle at 20.630 and Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which gained 5.61% to close at 9.563.
The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which was up 0.22% to 98.990 in late trade, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which gained 0.57% to settle at 80.800 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (XETRA:AFXG) which was up 0.62% to 20.325 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 630 to 92 and 20 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 13.29% to 18.33.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.03% or 0.30 to $1194.80 a troy ounce.
Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.60% or 0.91 to hit $55.88 a barrel, while the February brent oil contract fell 1.66% or 1.01 to trade at $60.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.45% to 1.2288, while EUR/GBP fell 0.97% to 0.7846.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 89.45.
