Investing.com – France stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Gas & Water, General Financial and Foods & Drugs sectors led shares higher while losses in the Consumer Goods, Utilities and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.72%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.10%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF), which rose 2.54% or 2.32 points to trade at 93.54 at the close. Meanwhile, Thales (EPA:TCFP) added 2.23% or 3.55 points to end at 162.55 and Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) was up 2.08% or 0.32 points to 15.96 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN), which fell 2.46% or 1.24 points to trade at 49.10 at the close. Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) declined 1.10% or 0.32 points to end at 28.84 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was down 0.98% or 0.11 points to 10.61.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which rose 18.93% to 2.31, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was up 6.29% to settle at 11.29 and Remy Cointreau (EPA:RCOP) which gained 5.71% to close at 93.55.
The worst performers were Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was down 3.54% to 2.34 in late trade, Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which lost 2.65% to settle at 90.05 and Bureau Veritas SA (EPA:BVI) which was down 2.59% to 27.04 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 291 to 224 and 102 ended unchanged.
Shares in Thales (EPA:TCFP) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.23% or 3.55 to 162.55. Shares in Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) fell to 3-years lows; falling 2.65% or 2.45 to 90.05.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.03% or 0.80 to $2,346.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.59% or 1.38 to hit $85.53 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.77% or 1.61 to trade at $89.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 103.98.
