Investing.com – France stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Utilities and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher while losses in the Consumer Services, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.59% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which rose 8.88% or 0.95 points to trade at 11.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Renault SA (EPA:RENA) added 6.42% or 2.36 points to end at 39.05 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) was up 6.07% or 3.30 points to 57.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which fell 2.99% or 4.15 points to trade at 134.55 at the close. Safran SA (EPA:SAF) declined 2.98% or 4.94 points to end at 160.78 and Air Liquide SA (EPA:AIRP) was down 2.20% or 3.94 points to 175.10.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) which rose 13.52% to 9.15, Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was up 12.24% to settle at 2.82 and Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which gained 10.98% to close at 2.37.
The worst performers were Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) which was down 4.32% to 96.66 in late trade, SCOR SE (EPA:SCOR) which lost 3.96% to settle at 26.92 and Thales (EPA:TCFP) which was down 2.99% to 134.55 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 340 to 197 and 74 ended unchanged.
Shares in Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) fell to all time lows; falling 4.32% or 4.36 to 96.66.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 2.73% or 54.60 to $2,051.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.77% or 2.62 to hit $72.09 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 3.69% or 2.74 to trade at $77.00 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.07% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.91% at 101.54.
