Investing.com – France stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Utilities sectors led shares higher while losses in the Oil & Gas, Industrials and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.17% to hit a new all time high, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF), which rose 3.45% or 3.65 points to trade at 109.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) added 3.23% or 1.88 points to end at 60.08 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) was up 2.97% or 0.88 points to 30.54 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR), which fell 4.08% or 0.69 points to trade at 16.11 at the close. TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) declined 1.24% or 0.85 points to end at 67.47 and Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) was down 1.23% or 1.13 points to 90.56.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which rose 19.64% to 0.56, Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was up 9.92% to settle at 4.06 and ICADE (EPA:ICAD) which gained 3.82% to close at 28.24.
The worst performers were Trigano SA (EPA:TRIA) which was down 6.80% to 144.00 in late trade, Vusiongroup SA (EPA:VU) which lost 5.59% to settle at 155.50 and Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which was down 5.16% to 101.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 269 to 239 and 96 ended unchanged.
Shares in Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.97% or 0.88 to 30.54.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.02% or 24.00 to $2,383.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.50% or 0.39 to hit $78.41 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.38% or 0.31 to trade at $82.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 104.40.
