Investing.com – France stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher while losses in the Industrials, Oil & Gas Producers and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.05%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.03%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Total SA (PA:TOTF), which rose 2.09% or 0.77 points to trade at 37.66 at the close. Meanwhile, Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) added 1.58% or 0.71 points to end at 45.68 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was up 0.98% or 0.10 points to 10.32 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which fell 3.25% or 0.57 points to trade at 17.10 at the close. BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) declined 2.44% or 1.08 points to end at 43.46 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) was down 2.07% or 0.41 points to 19.62.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which rose 3.71% to 8.28, CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was up 2.63% to settle at 0.883 and Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) which gained 2.50% to close at 65.29.

The worst performers were Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which was down 8.92% to 14.70 in late trade, Elis Services SA (PA:ELIS) which lost 3.28% to settle at 13.26 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) which was down 3.25% to 17.10 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 357 to 240 and 76 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.43% to 20.27.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.12% or 2.25 to $1840.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.93% or 1.79 to hit $47.31 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 3.83% or 1.87 to trade at $50.73 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.30% to 1.2118, while EUR/GBP rose 1.14% to 0.9117.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 90.898.
