Investing.com – France stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares higher while losses in the Oil & Gas, Utilities and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.02%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.03%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE), which rose 4.93% or 0.60 points to trade at 12.72 at the close. Meanwhile, Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) added 2.44% or 12.20 points to end at 511.70 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) was up 2.21% or 0.63 points to 28.96 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF), which fell 3.70% or 1.91 points to trade at 49.80 at the close. Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) declined 1.56% or 0.26 points to end at 16.14 and Thales (EPA:TCFP) was down 1.30% or 1.60 points to 121.40.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) which rose 4.93% to 12.72, Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which was up 4.32% to settle at 14.14 and Valeo SA (EPA:VLOF) which gained 3.98% to close at 18.70.

The worst performers were Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which was down 17.24% to 36.00 in late trade, CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which lost 4.67% to settle at 0.87 and Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which was down 4.42% to 9.57 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 319 to 210 and 103 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.77% or 13.25 to $1,726.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 5.05% or 4.39 to hit $82.49 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 4.49% or 4.17 to trade at $88.66 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.73% to 1.00, while EUR/GBP rose 0.93% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 109.92.
