Investing.com – France stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher while losses in the Industrials, Oil & Gas Producers and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.04%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.06%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE), which rose 4.29% or 0.93 points to trade at 22.63 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 3.04% or 0.40 points to end at 13.56 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was up 2.89% or 3.10 points to 110.35 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP), which fell 1.77% or 5.40 points to trade at 299.70 at the close. Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) declined 1.62% or 2.70 points to end at 163.70 and Kering SA (PA:PRTP) was down 1.49% or 8.70 points to 574.40.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which rose 8.10% to 10.33, Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was up 6.67% to settle at 40.95 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) which gained 4.29% to close at 22.63.

The worst performers were Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was down 7.83% to 42.85 in late trade, Verallia (PA:VRLA) which lost 2.61% to settle at 27.95 and Edenred SA (PA:EDEN) which was down 2.61% to 46.26 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 309 to 269 and 83 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.52% or 9.60 to $1841.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.53% or 0.80 to hit $53.05 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.60% or 0.89 to trade at $56.55 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.2157, while EUR/GBP fell 0.66% to 0.8928.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 90.388.
