Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 5.75% to hit a new 5-year low, while the SBF 120 index lost 6.24%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Sanofi SA (PA:SASY), which rose 4.35% or 3.19 points to trade at 76.60 at the close. Meanwhile, TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) added 1.37% or 0.08 points to end at 5.92 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) was up 0.37% or 0.20 points to 53.96 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 19.53% or 14.10 points to trade at 58.08 at the close. Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) declined 17.11% or 4.00 points to end at 19.36 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) was down 15.33% or 2.63 points to 14.52.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) which rose 4.35% to 76.60, Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) which was up 3.74% to settle at 30.75 and Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which gained 3.56% to close at 58.78.
The worst performers were Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) which was down 22.58% to 5.11 in late trade, Covivio SA (PA:CVO) which lost 21.68% to settle at 50.75 and Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which was down 20.89% to 9.19 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 599 to 47 and 26 ended unchanged.
Shares in WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) fell to 5-year lows; down 19.53% or 14.10 to 58.08. Shares in Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) fell to 5-year lows; down 17.11% or 4.00 to 19.36. Shares in Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) fell to 5-year lows; falling 15.33% or 2.63 to 14.52. Shares in Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) fell to all time lows; down 22.58% or 1.49 to 5.11. Shares in Covivio SA (PA:CVO) fell to 5-year lows; falling 21.68% or 14.05 to 50.75. Shares in Spie SA (PA:SPIE) fell to all time lows; down 20.89% or 2.42 to 9.19.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 31.47% to 83.58 a new all time high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.61% or 24.40 to $1492.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 9.25% or 2.97 to hit $29.14 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 11.85% or 4.01 to trade at $29.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.1159, while EUR/GBP rose 0.89% to 0.9122.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.75% at 98.165.
