France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 4.23%

Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 4.23%, while the SBF 120 index fell 4.22%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST), which rose 1.44% or 1.85 points to trade at 130.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) fell 0.90% or 0.70 points to end at 77.00 and Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) was down 1.52% or 1.20 points to 78.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which fell 9.85% or 2.87 points to trade at 26.26 at the close. Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) declined 8.77% or 2.72 points to end at 28.31 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) was down 8.03% or 1.42 points to 16.26.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) which rose 5.00% to 178.50, Ipsos (PA:ISOS) which was up 4.53% to settle at 17.98 and Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which gained 4.11% to close at 48.60.

The worst performers were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 13.79% to 0.850 in late trade, Accor SA (PA:ACCP) which lost 9.85% to settle at 26.26 and CNP Assurances SA (PA:CNPP) which was down 9.64% to 9.47 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 405 to 195 and 61 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 10.84% to 54.06.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.70% or 28.10 to $1623.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 6.37% or 1.44 to hit $21.16 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 6.64% or 1.75 to trade at $24.59 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.65% to 1.1099, while EUR/GBP fell 1.04% to 0.8941.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.66% at 98.800.
