Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 3.97% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 3.99%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Orange SA (PA:ORAN), which rose 0.90% or 0.09 points to trade at 9.99 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) fell 0.94% or 0.17 points to end at 17.39 and Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) was down 1.63% or 1.46 points to 87.98 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB), which fell 8.46% or 5.36 points to trade at 57.96 at the close. Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) declined 7.43% or 1.35 points to end at 16.76 and Worldline SA (PA:WLN) was down 7.28% or 3.30 points to 42.00.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were BIC (PA:BICP) which rose 2.61% to 50.40, Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which was up 1.26% to settle at 83.56 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) which gained 0.90% to close at 9.99.

The worst performers were Orpea SA (PA:ORP) which was down 16.11% to 69.28 in late trade, Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which lost 14.04% to settle at 23.76 and Valneva (PA:VLS) which was down 9.13% to 14.230 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 559 to 57 and 62 ended unchanged.

Shares in Worldline SA (PA:WLN) fell to 52-week lows; down 7.28% or 3.30 to 42.00. Shares in Orpea SA (PA:ORP) fell to 5-year lows; falling 16.11% or 13.30 to 69.28. Shares in Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) fell to 3-years lows; down 14.04% or 3.88 to 23.76.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.38% or 6.95 to $1838.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.22% or 1.89 to hit $83.25 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.96% or 1.71 to trade at $85.37 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.1328, while EUR/GBP rose 0.65% to 0.8418.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 95.910.
