Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 3.57% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 3.38%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which rose 0.65% or 0.80 points to trade at 123.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) fell 0.27% or 0.060 points to end at 22.210 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was down 0.89% or 0.12 points to 13.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 6.64% or 0.950 points to trade at 13.352 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) declined 6.56% or 1.110 points to end at 15.810 and TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) was down 5.51% or 1.35 points to 23.14.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Mercialys SA (PA:MERY) which rose 1.16% to 10.46, Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) which was up 0.99% to settle at 33.60 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which gained 0.65% to close at 123.30.
The worst performers were Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which was down 6.79% to 26.20 in late trade, Arkema SA (PA:AKE) which lost 6.73% to settle at 80.14 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which was down 6.64% to 13.352 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 450 to 113 and 95 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 30.49% to 17.50 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.88% or 26.95 to $1459.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.37% or 1.82 to hit $55.77 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.74% or 1.66 to trade at $62.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.29% to 1.1115, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.9151.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 97.833.
