Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 2.85% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index fell 2.72%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS), which rose 0.48% or 3.20 points to trade at 673.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Renault SA (PA:RENA) fell 0.51% or 0.09 points to end at 17.07 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) was down 0.83% or 1.15 points to 137.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 8.03% or 3.79 points to trade at 43.42 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 8.00% or 0.65 points to end at 7.50 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) was down 7.71% or 1.98 points to 23.69.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which rose 11.02% to 185.40, Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which was up 3.25% to settle at 133.30 and Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) which gained 3.12% to close at 105.80.
The worst performers were Eurazeo (PA:EURA) which was down 9.74% to 40.40 in late trade, WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which lost 8.03% to settle at 43.42 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which was down 8.00% to 7.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 451 to 133 and 72 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 11.69% to 30.97.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.54% or 9.15 to $1715.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.13% or 0.55 to hit $25.23 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.50% or 0.75 to trade at $29.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.23% to 1.0821, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8852.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 100.237.
