Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 2.19% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 2.28%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which rose 1.20% or 0.59 points to trade at 49.77 at the close. Meanwhile, Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) fell 0.09% or 0.02 points to end at 22.40 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was down 0.12% or 0.15 points to 123.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 4.43% or 0.592 points to trade at 12.760 at the close. Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) declined 4.34% or 5.85 points to end at 128.90 and STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) was down 4.30% or 0.680 points to 15.130.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Renault SA (PA:RENA) which rose 1.20% to 49.77, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was up 0.51% to settle at 9.878 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which gained 0.34% to close at 20.49.
The worst performers were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 7.58% to 1.762 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 6.78% to settle at 2.750 and Rexel (PA:RXL) which was down 5.87% to 9.23 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 477 to 107 and 78 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.75% to 17.81 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.39% or 20.20 to $1477.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.01% or 0.56 to hit $55.10 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.55% or 1.58 to trade at $60.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.93% to 1.1210, while EUR/GBP rose 0.94% to 0.9221.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.65% at 97.218.
