Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 2.13% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 2.08%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF), which rose 5.52% or 13.10 points to trade at 250.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Safran SA (PA:SAF) added 3.90% or 3.54 points to end at 94.24 and Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) was up 1.87% or 1.16 points to 63.34 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which fell 9.26% or 2.22 points to trade at 21.77 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 8.78% or 4.24 points to end at 44.06 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) was down 5.38% or 3.24 points to 57.02.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were La Francaise Des Jeux Sa (PA:FDJ) which rose 18.84% to 31.92, Akka Technologies (PA:AKA) which was up 6.63% to settle at 17.70 and Coface (PA:COFA) which gained 6.43% to close at 6.79.
The worst performers were Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was down 17.06% to 23.10 in late trade, Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) which lost 13.12% to settle at 22.64 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) which was down 9.26% to 21.77 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 459 to 119 and 85 ended unchanged.
Shares in Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) rose to all time highs; rising 5.52% or 13.10 to 250.30. Shares in La Francaise Des Jeux Sa (PA:FDJ) rose to all time highs; rising 18.84% or 5.06 to 31.92. Shares in Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 13.12% or 3.42 to 22.64.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 7.34% to 25.75.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.56% or 10.90 to $1942.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.96% or 1.22 to hit $40.05 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.15% or 0.95 to trade at $43.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1803, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.9038.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 93.205.
