France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.80%

Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.80%, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.82%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY), which rose 1.62% or 1.32 points to trade at 82.98 at the close. Meanwhile, TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) added 0.66% or 0.35 points to end at 53.04 and Thales (EPA:TCFP) was up 0.08% or 0.10 points to 125.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST), which fell 4.71% or 2.01 points to trade at 40.52 at the close. Renault SA (EPA:RENA) declined 4.42% or 1.29 points to end at 28.02 and Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) was down 4.40% or 5.92 points to 128.58.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Technip Energies BV (EPA:TE) which rose 1.85% to 12.09, Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) which was up 1.62% to settle at 82.98 and Remy Cointreau (EPA:RCOP) which gained 0.94% to close at 193.20.

The worst performers were Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which was down 9.01% to 14.64 in late trade, Derichebourg (EPA:DBG) which lost 7.65% to settle at 5.86 and Valeo SA (EPA:VLOF) which was down 6.26% to 18.73 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 401 to 132 and 95 ended unchanged.

Shares in Faurecia (EPA:EPED) fell to 5-year lows; losing 9.01% or 1.45 to 14.64.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.82% or 14.45 to $1,748.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.34% or 0.31 to hit $90.13 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.39 to trade at $96.33 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 1.02% to 0.99, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.55% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.77% at 108.93.
