Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.74% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.70%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which rose 2.26% or 2.38 points to trade at 107.66 at the close. Meanwhile, Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) added 0.74% or 0.64 points to end at 86.80 and Thales (PA:TCFP) was up 0.67% or 0.54 points to 81.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 8.03% or 2.18 points to trade at 25.02 at the close. Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) declined 5.70% or 1.49 points to end at 24.57 and Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) was down 5.20% or 0.88 points to 16.07.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which rose 5.46% to 4.09, Aeroports de Paris SA (PA:ADP) which was up 4.59% to settle at 106.00 and JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which gained 4.21% to close at 21.78.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 8.69% to 6.465 in late trade, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which lost 8.03% to settle at 25.02 and Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which was down 7.07% to 167.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 518 to 131 and 49 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.65% or 11.35 to $1762.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.88% or 1.35 to hit $70.47 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.57% or 1.18 to trade at $74.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.03% to 1.1729, while EUR/GBP rose 0.66% to 0.8589.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 93.240.
