Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.61% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.56%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP), which rose 2.57% or 2.90 points to trade at 115.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) added 0.76% or 0.95 points to end at 125.20 and Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) was down 0.47% or 0.75 points to 157.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which fell 3.71% or 0.85 points to trade at 22.05 at the close. Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) declined 3.56% or 1.29 points to end at 34.97 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was down 3.40% or 0.75 points to 21.34.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ipsos (PA:ISOS) which rose 4.00% to 24.70, Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) which was up 2.57% to settle at 115.60 and Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which gained 1.80% to close at 5.67.
The worst performers were Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) which was down 16.48% to 17.490 in late trade, Rexel (PA:RXL) which lost 4.94% to settle at 10.49 and Imerys SA (PA:IMTP) which was down 4.79% to 38.54 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 404 to 159 and 98 ended unchanged.
Shares in Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.57% or 2.90 to 115.60. Shares in Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) rose to all time highs; rising 0.76% or 0.95 to 125.20. Shares in Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.57% or 2.90 to 115.60.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 15.71% to 14.99 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.64% or 9.05 to $1429.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.69% or 0.39 to hit $57.26 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.52 to trade at $64.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.1152, while EUR/GBP rose 0.52% to 0.9166.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 97.833.
