Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.54%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.50%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which rose 2.48% or 0.87 points to trade at 35.72 at the close. Meanwhile, Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) added 1.74% or 0.58 points to end at 34.26 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 1.46% or 0.20 points to 14.06 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Worldline SA (PA:WLN), which fell 4.53% or 2.03 points to trade at 42.77 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) declined 4.06% or 1.68 points to end at 39.68 and Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) was down 3.86% or 7.90 points to 197.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Renault SA (PA:RENA) which rose 2.48% to 35.72, Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) which was up 1.74% to settle at 34.26 and Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which gained 1.54% to close at 21.12.
The worst performers were Atos SE (PA:ATOS) which was down 7.46% to 32.40 in late trade, Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which lost 6.24% to settle at 15.94 and Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which was down 4.65% to 158.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 372 to 184 and 80 ended unchanged.
Shares in Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.46% or 0.20 to 14.06.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.31% or 5.65 to $1804.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.40% or 0.35 to hit $88.61 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.37 to trade at $89.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.25% to 1.1444, while EUR/GBP rose 1.06% to 0.8410.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.68% at 95.285.
