Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.54%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.54%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which rose 2.77% or 0.80 points to trade at 29.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 0.63% or 0.09 points to end at 13.55 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) was up 0.37% or 0.12 points to 32.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Thales (PA:TCFP), which fell 6.26% or 4.46 points to trade at 66.80 at the close. Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) declined 5.23% or 8.05 points to end at 145.80 and Worldline SA (PA:WLN) was down 4.97% or 3.86 points to 73.74.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Gecina SA (PA:GFCP) which rose 4.53% to 108.40, Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) which was up 2.77% to settle at 29.65 and TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which gained 2.32% to close at 6.78.
The worst performers were Thales (PA:TCFP) which was down 6.26% to 66.80 in late trade, Dassault Aviation SA (PA:AVMD) which lost 5.56% to settle at 782.00 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) which was down 5.23% to 145.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 416 to 144 and 90 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 7.84% to 25.02.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.38% or 7.25 to $1897.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.22% or 0.09 to hit $40.98 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.60% or 0.26 to trade at $43.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1635, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.9100.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 94.373.
