Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.45%, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.50%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Danone SA (PA:DANO), which rose 1.02% or 0.54 points to trade at 53.46 at the close. Meanwhile, Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) added 0.85% or 0.37 points to end at 43.98 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) was up 0.52% or 0.12 points to 23.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which fell 5.09% or 1.80 points to trade at 33.62 at the close. Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) declined 4.09% or 1.92 points to end at 44.97 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) was down 3.95% or 0.68 points to 16.43.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were ALD SA (PA:ALDA) which rose 2.42% to 12.70, Natixis (PA:CNAT) which was up 2.05% to settle at 3.14 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which gained 2.05% to close at 309.20.
The worst performers were Renault SA (PA:RENA) which was down 5.09% to 33.62 in late trade, Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which lost 4.10% to settle at 38.60 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which was down 4.09% to 44.97 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 428 to 170 and 72 ended unchanged.
Shares in Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) rose to 52-week highs; rising 0.85% or 0.37 to 43.98.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.26% or 23.40 to $1828.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 2.74% or 1.47 to hit $52.10 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 2.69% or 1.52 to trade at $54.90 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.52% to 1.2093, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8902.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 90.690.
