Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Gas & Water, General Financial and Foods & Drugs sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.39%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.46%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE), which rose 2.90% or 0.37 points to trade at 13.26 at the close. Meanwhile, Thales (EPA:TCFP) added 0.38% or 0.45 points to end at 119.45 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was up 0.27% or 0.03 points to 10.23 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which fell 4.46% or 0.98 points to trade at 21.00 at the close. Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) declined 4.31% or 1.70 points to end at 37.74 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was down 4.19% or 2.25 points to 51.43.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which rose 3.42% to 17.36, Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) which was up 2.90% to settle at 13.26 and Ipsen SA (EPA:IPN) which gained 1.28% to close at 102.90.
The worst performers were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was down 7.45% to 15.22 in late trade, Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which lost 7.31% to settle at 9.11 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which was down 7.24% to 25.64 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 364 to 175 and 78 ended unchanged.
Shares in Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.42% or 0.57 to 17.36. Shares in Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) fell to 5-year lows; falling 7.45% or 1.23 to 15.22.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.42% or 24.65 to $1,715.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.28% or 2.00 to hit $85.78 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.46% or 2.31 to trade at $91.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.20% to 1.00, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.13% at 109.32.
