Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.27%, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.02%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Orange SA (PA:ORAN), which rose 2.69% or 0.27 points to trade at 10.29 at the close. Meanwhile, WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) added 0.91% or 0.44 points to end at 48.91 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 0.71% or 0.09 points to 13.41 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP), which fell 3.53% or 1.45 points to trade at 39.64 at the close. LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) declined 2.69% or 13.10 points to end at 474.30 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) was down 2.76% or 0.24 points to 8.51.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which rose 5.33% to 79.46, Accor SA (PA:ACCP) which was up 3.05% to settle at 28.03 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) which gained 2.69% to close at 10.29.
The worst performers were Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which was down 4.50% to 29.70 in late trade, BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) which lost 3.53% to settle at 39.64 and Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) which was down 2.76% to 710.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 349 to 228 and 80 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 3.85% to 23.87.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.88% or 16.40 to $1878.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.99% or 0.41 to hit $41.86 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.75% or 0.33 to trade at $44.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.28% to 1.1810, while EUR/GBP rose 1.00% to 0.8994.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 92.915.
