Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.25%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.21%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Danone SA (PA:DANO), which rose 1.83% or 0.96 points to trade at 53.31 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 0.75% or 0.18 points to end at 24.81 and Worldline SA (PA:WLN) was up 0.53% or 0.24 points to 46.59 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which fell 6.71% or 3.02 points to trade at 41.93 at the close. Orange SA (PA:ORAN) declined 3.21% or 0.31 points to end at 9.30 and Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) was down 3.09% or 51.50 points to 1617.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eurazeo (PA:EURA) which rose 2.83% to 74.55, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 2.15% to settle at 7.585 and CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which gained 1.98% to close at 0.609.
The worst performers were Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which was down 6.97% to 224.40 in late trade, STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) which lost 6.71% to settle at 41.93 and Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which was down 6.13% to 35.22 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 426 to 178 and 78 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.95% or 16.90 to $1767.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.34% or 0.88 to hit $66.45 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.06% or 0.73 to trade at $69.60 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.1308, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8497.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 96.075.
