Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.17% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.31%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which rose 17.31% or 10.38 points to trade at 70.36 at the close. Meanwhile, Orange SA (PA:ORAN) added 1.57% or 0.15 points to end at 9.85 and Thales (PA:TCFP) was up 1.34% or 0.98 points to 74.34 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP), which fell 4.14% or 1.74 points to trade at 40.25 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 3.76% or 0.69 points to end at 17.66 and Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) was down 3.26% or 0.42 points to 12.42.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Klepierre SA (PA:LOIM) which rose 18.40% to 20.98, WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which was up 17.31% to settle at 70.36 and JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which gained 6.28% to close at 16.58.
The worst performers were Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which was down 8.77% to 57.20 in late trade, Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which lost 8.41% to settle at 9.80 and Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which was down 8.27% to 32.70 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 430 to 162 and 68 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.19% or 3.45 to $1847.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.05% or 0.55 to hit $53.16 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.74% or 0.41 to trade at $56.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.57% to 1.2090, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8823.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.54% at 90.638.
