Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.11%, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.01%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE), which rose 5.73% or 1.09 points to trade at 20.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 4.67% or 0.52 points to end at 11.65 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 1.13% or 0.12 points to 10.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which fell 5.11% or 5.23 points to trade at 97.02 at the close. Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) declined 4.04% or 0.57 points to end at 13.58 and Thales (PA:TCFP) was down 3.65% or 2.48 points to 65.50.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Suez SA (PA:SEVI) which rose 18.50% to 14.51, Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) which was up 5.73% to settle at 20.20 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) which gained 4.67% to close at 11.65.
The worst performers were Natixis (PA:CNAT) which was down 6.07% to 2.31 in late trade, Safran SA (PA:SAF) which lost 5.11% to settle at 97.02 and Sodexo SA (PA:EXHO) which was down 4.34% to 59.96 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 346 to 223 and 87 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 8.61% to 21.91.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.16% or 3.15 to $1978.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.12% or 0.05 to hit $42.92 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.11% or 0.05 to trade at $45.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1945, while EUR/GBP rose 0.21% to 0.8929.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 92.108.
