Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.11%, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.00%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (PA:TCFP), which rose 2.68% or 1.78 points to trade at 68.14 at the close. Meanwhile, Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) added 2.55% or 2.22 points to end at 89.36 and Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) was up 1.90% or 1.72 points to 92.42 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 4.95% or 2.57 points to trade at 49.37 at the close. Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) declined 4.85% or 2.74 points to end at 53.70 and Accor SA (PA:ACCP) was down 4.60% or 1.11 points to 23.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Euronext (PA:ENX) which rose 5.02% to 82.65, Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) which was up 4.32% to settle at 217.10 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) which gained 3.52% to close at 72.98.
The worst performers were TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was down 6.00% to 6.92 in late trade, Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which lost 5.90% to settle at 22.17 and Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which was down 5.56% to 4.28 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 319 to 240 and 90 ended unchanged.
Shares in Euronext (PA:ENX) rose to all time highs; up 5.02% or 3.95 to 82.65. Shares in Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.56% or 0.25 to 4.28.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 7.19% to 31.55.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.29% or 22.00 to $1688.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 4.76% or 1.17 to hit $23.39 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 5.97% or 1.85 to trade at $29.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.28% to 1.0808, while EUR/GBP rose 0.38% to 0.8746.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 100.112.
