Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.05%, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.08%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Sanofi SA (PA:SASY), which rose 0.44% or 0.37 points to trade at 83.69 at the close. Meanwhile, Orange SA (PA:ORAN) added 0.35% or 0.05 points to end at 14.30 and EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX) was up 0.26% or 0.35 points to 132.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 5.93% or 0.820 points to trade at 13.012 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) declined 4.08% or 0.98 points to end at 23.04 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) was down 3.14% or 4.10 points to 126.60.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Euronext (PA:ENX) which rose 2.36% to 71.70, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was up 1.52% to settle at 9.206 and Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) which gained 1.23% to close at 46.05.
The worst performers were Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which was down 8.88% to 5.03 in late trade, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which lost 5.93% to settle at 13.012 and Alten SA (PA:LTEN) which was down 5.86% to 101.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 429 to 149 and 87 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) rose to 52-week highs; up 0.44% or 0.37 to 83.69. Shares in Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) fell to all time lows; losing 8.88% or 0.49 to 5.03.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.33% to 15.01.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.98% or 14.85 to $1529.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.24% or 0.14 to hit $58.23 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.08 to trade at $64.36 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.0987, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.8838.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 98.297.
