Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.04% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.00%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 4.52% or 1.25 points to trade at 28.77 at the close. Meanwhile, Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) added 2.26% or 0.38 points to end at 17.34 and TotalEnergies SE (PA:TTEF) was up 2.23% or 0.85 points to 38.69 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO), which fell 4.64% or 1.47 points to trade at 30.22 at the close. Kering SA (PA:PRTP) declined 4.09% or 26.90 points to end at 631.40 and Atos SE (PA:ATOS) was down 4.05% or 1.89 points to 44.72.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which rose 8.04% to 8.98, TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was up 5.24% to settle at 6.07 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which gained 4.52% to close at 28.77.
The worst performers were JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which was down 5.12% to 23.00 in late trade, Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) which lost 4.69% to settle at 18.51 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which was down 4.64% to 30.22 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 384 to 229 and 76 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.68% or 12.25 to $1794.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.05% or 2.15 to hit $72.61 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.69% or 1.98 to trade at $75.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.1812, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8537.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 92.520.
