Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.98%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which rose 1.67% or 1.62 points to trade at 98.54 at the close. Meanwhile, Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) added 0.82% or 0.56 points to end at 68.96 and Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) was up 0.53% or 0.36 points to 68.33 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 3.85% or 1.69 points to trade at 42.23 at the close. AXA SA (PA:AXAF) declined 3.49% or 0.62 points to end at 17.03 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was down 2.42% or 0.24 points to 9.74.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) which rose 17.39% to 673.60, Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which was up 3.14% to settle at 134.80 and Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which gained 2.51% to close at 26.16.
The worst performers were Klepierre SA (PA:LOIM) which was down 4.56% to 13.93 in late trade, DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which lost 4.09% to settle at 4.12 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which was down 3.85% to 42.23 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 345 to 203 and 98 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) rose to all time highs; rising 17.39% or 99.80 to 673.60.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 3.54% to 23.86.
Gold Futures for October delivery was up 1.26% or 25.70 to $2062.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.17% or 0.07 to hit $42.26 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.60% or 0.27 to trade at $45.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1881, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.9028.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 92.737.
