Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.97%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.96%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which rose 2.96% or 0.41 points to trade at 14.06 at the close. Meanwhile, Orange SA (PA:ORAN) added 1.97% or 0.21 points to end at 10.88 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) was up 0.99% or 0.34 points to 34.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which fell 4.18% or 1.08 points to trade at 24.78 at the close. Worldline SA (PA:WLN) declined 3.75% or 2.92 points to end at 74.88 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) was down 3.51% or 5.55 points to 152.40.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were SCOR SE (PA:SCOR) which rose 3.10% to 24.60, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) which was up 2.96% to settle at 14.06 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which gained 2.00% to close at 45.46.
The worst performers were Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) which was down 5.26% to 5.13 in late trade, Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which lost 4.84% to settle at 100.30 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which was down 4.24% to 234.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 313 to 154 and 108 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.65% to 27.35.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.08% or 1.45 to $1812.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.47% or 0.19 to hit $40.29 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.21 to trade at $42.93 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.56% to 1.1403, while EUR/GBP rose 0.66% to 0.9089.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 96.160.
