Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.94%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.88%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (PA:TCFP), which rose 1.78% or 1.46 points to trade at 83.28 at the close. Meanwhile, TotalEnergies SE (PA:TTEF) added 1.50% or 0.74 points to end at 50.42 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was up 1.29% or 0.84 points to 66.03 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Worldline SA (PA:WLN), which fell 3.86% or 1.85 points to trade at 46.02 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 3.49% or 1.12 points to end at 31.15 and Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) was down 2.74% or 9.80 points to 348.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which rose 11.87% to 50.44, Ovh Groupe SAS (PA:OVH) which was up 6.36% to settle at 27.00 and BIC (PA:BICP) which gained 2.93% to close at 50.25.
The worst performers were Valneva (PA:VLS) which was down 5.59% to 15.700 in late trade, Compagnie Plastic Omnium SE (PA:PLOF) which lost 4.23% to settle at 23.08 and Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which was down 4.20% to 100.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 353 to 208 and 89 ended unchanged.
Shares in TotalEnergies SE (PA:TTEF) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.50% or 0.74 to 50.42.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.27% or 4.85 to $1811.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.14% or 0.95 to hit $84.25 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.49 to trade at $86.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.74% to 1.1322, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.8339.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.66% at 95.785.
