Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.91%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR), which rose 1.84% or 1.96 points to trade at 108.44 at the close. Meanwhile, Orange SA (PA:ORAN) added 0.54% or 0.05 points to end at 9.62 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) was up 0.48% or 0.08 points to 16.59 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which fell 2.85% or 1.00 points to trade at 34.09 at the close. Kering SA (PA:PRTP) declined 2.31% or 17.40 points to end at 737.00 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was down 2.22% or 3.05 points to 134.50.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which rose 13.98% to 5.83, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 6.41% to settle at 7.640 and Orpea SA (PA:ORP) which gained 4.03% to close at 107.25.
The worst performers were Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which was down 4.59% to 25.37 in late trade, Compagnie Plastic Omnium SE (PA:PLOF) which lost 3.37% to settle at 26.34 and Alten SA (PA:LTEN) which was down 3.20% to 111.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 376 to 204 and 91 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.14% or 2.55 to $1766.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.45% or 0.33 to hit $73.31 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.25 to trade at $74.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.40% to 1.1848, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8582.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 92.415.
