Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Gas & Water, General Financial and Foods & Drugs sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.90%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.98%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM), which rose 1.48% or 0.51 points to trade at 34.98 at the close. Meanwhile, EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX) added 1.41% or 2.15 points to end at 154.30 and TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) was up 1.09% or 0.56 points to 51.87 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 7.07% or 3.17 points to trade at 41.69 at the close. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) declined 5.12% or 1.23 points to end at 22.80 and Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) was down 3.37% or 0.49 points to 14.05.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM) which rose 1.48% to 34.98, EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX) which was up 1.41% to settle at 154.30 and Sodexo SA (EPA:EXHO) which gained 1.12% to close at 82.98.
The worst performers were Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which was down 7.70% to 11.44 in late trade, Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which lost 7.26% to settle at 8.74 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which was down 7.07% to 41.69 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 348 to 208 and 71 ended unchanged.
Shares in Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) fell to 5-year lows; falling 7.26% or 0.69 to 8.74.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.78% or 13.55 to $1,716.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.78% or 1.54 to hit $88.06 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.96% or 1.80 to trade at $93.60 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.20% to 0.99, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.43% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.24% at 111.34.
