Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.89%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.86%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which rose 5.59% or 0.72 points to trade at 13.67 at the close. Meanwhile, Renault SA (PA:RENA) added 4.46% or 1.04 points to end at 24.45 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was up 4.27% or 0.62 points to 15.14 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Worldline SA (PA:WLN), which fell 4.13% or 3.18 points to trade at 73.80 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) declined 3.02% or 4.40 points to end at 141.30 and Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) was down 2.80% or 7.20 points to 249.90.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) which rose 5.59% to 13.67, Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was up 5.25% to settle at 40.88 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which gained 4.89% to close at 28.31.
The worst performers were Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which was down 4.14% to 45.20 in late trade, Worldline SA (PA:WLN) which lost 4.13% to settle at 73.80 and Albioma SA (PA:ABIO) which was down 4.10% to 42.15 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 363 to 201 and 88 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 4.66% to 28.24 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.23% or 4.40 to $1933.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 4.04% or 1.67 to hit $39.70 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 3.47% or 1.53 to trade at $42.54 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.1835, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.8935.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 92.868.
