Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.85%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.85%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO), which rose 2.49% or 0.83 points to trade at 34.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) added 1.36% or 1.48 points to end at 110.26 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was up 1.19% or 0.75 points to 63.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI), which fell 4.05% or 4.38 points to trade at 103.72 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) declined 3.96% or 1.81 points to end at 43.90 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) was down 3.76% or 2.08 points to 53.25.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (PA:VLS) which rose 6.51% to 20.300, Eutelsat Communications SA (PA:ETL) which was up 2.64% to settle at 11.64 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which gained 2.49% to close at 34.16.
The worst performers were Trigano SA (PA:TRIA) which was down 10.48% to 155.50 in late trade, Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which lost 7.00% to settle at 20.72 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which was down 4.97% to 468.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 402 to 206 and 85 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.32% or 23.85 to $1782.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.90% or 1.46 to hit $78.21 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.60% or 2.07 to trade at $81.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.27% to 1.1264, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.8415.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 96.420.
