Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.82%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.78%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH), which rose 3.23% or 22.40 points to trade at 716.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Orange SA (PA:ORAN) added 1.41% or 0.15 points to end at 10.47 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) was up 1.01% or 0.60 points to 59.72 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO), which fell 8.20% or 2.59 points to trade at 29.00 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 5.40% or 1.46 points to end at 25.59 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was down 3.78% or 4.08 points to 103.94.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which rose 13.38% to 24.24, Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which was up 8.98% to settle at 20.76 and Orpea SA (PA:ORP) which gained 5.92% to close at 41.88.
The worst performers were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 8.50% to 0.760 in late trade, Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which lost 8.20% to settle at 29.00 and Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which was down 5.45% to 30.88 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 345 to 213 and 96 ended unchanged.
Shares in Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.45% or 1.78 to 30.88.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.57% or 10.20 to $1782.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.35% or 0.30 to hit $86.91 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.51% or 0.45 to trade at $88.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.1151, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.8329.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 97.220.
