Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.81% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.76%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN), which rose 3.29% or 4.98 points to trade at 156.22 at the close. Meanwhile, Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) added 1.68% or 2.15 points to end at 130.50 and Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) was up 1.48% or 5.30 points to 362.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Danone SA (PA:DANO), which fell 4.31% or 2.34 points to trade at 51.99 at the close. Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) declined 3.63% or 0.55 points to end at 14.62 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was down 3.00% or 1.80 points to 58.20.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were SCOR SE (PA:SCOR) which rose 4.08% to 27.79, Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which was up 3.95% to settle at 25.54 and Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) which gained 3.29% to close at 156.22.
The worst performers were Danone SA (PA:DANO) which was down 4.31% to 51.99 in late trade, DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which lost 3.85% to settle at 5.30 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) which was down 3.63% to 14.62 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 402 to 218 and 80 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.52% or 9.30 to $1775.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 5.52% or 3.86 to hit $66.09 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 5.37% or 3.93 to trade at $69.29 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1286, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.8517.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 96.257.
